THE WINTER GARDEN With striking views of the Hudson River and the North Cove Marina, the soaring glass atrium known as The Winter Garden is host to hundreds of cultural events each year and the center for all dining, shopping and people watching at Brookfield Place. Substantially rebuilt in 2002, its reconstruction required 2,000 panes of glass and 60,000 square feet of marble flooring and stairs. Its most dramatic features include sixteen 40-foot tall Washingtonia robusta palm trees. The trees grow about six inches per year in the atrium and are capable of reaching heights of over 80 feet.
