Since its inception in 1992, Theater Schmeater's mission has been to produce great plays simply and foster a love of theater as an art form in future audiences.

Our work with future audiences is also very exciting. Since the theater's beginnings it has been our policy to admit any person eighteen years or younger for free to any Theater Schmeater production. Additionally, we have produced annual Free for the Family Park Shows since 1998 in Volunteer Park. Our park shows offer families a unique opportuity to enjoy theater together. All of our scripts are chosen to encourage youngsters to become aware of (and enjoy!) theater, while at the same time entertaining adults.

The Schmee is in production year-round, annually presenting 6-7 mainstage shows and our Free for the Family Park Show. Our 2010 season was attended by over 3,000 people at 90 individual performances.
