St. Nicholas was the first Croatian Catholic Parish built in the United States, the first building was an old house that was converted into a church and was dedicated in 1894. Our present building in Millvale was dedicated in November of 1900. It was built to serve the large immigrant Croatian population living in Lawrenceville, Etna and Millvale. A second St. Nicholas Church was also built on the North Side, along Route 28, and dedicated in 1901. It served the North Side community until 1995, when it closed, and was torn down in 2014.
