Historically, Pier 70 was the heart of San Francisco’s shipbuilding industry. Today, it is a mix of vacant land and deteriorating buildings. The public is blocked from the Bay by barbed wire fences, and neighbors who live just two blocks from the Bay have no way to enjoy the waterfront in their own backyard.

A three-year design process with the neighboring Dogpatch and Potrero Hill communities created a vision and a plan to restore access to the Bay for all San Franciscans and create desperately needed housing (30% of all homes built will be affordable), waterfront parks and playgrounds, space for artists and small businesses, and up to 10,000 permanent jobs.
