In 1952 Herman and Clara Nelson sold their ranch in what is now the Silicon Valley and headed north, landing in Southern Mendocino County near the town of Hopland. The farm has evolved from plum growing and sheep ranching to growing vineyards, bartlett pears, olives, canola and Christmas trees.

The key to making world class wines is to start with world class grapes. All our wines are estate grown in order to assure the highest quality grapes. We have the luxury of choosing only the best grapes from our top vineyards to produce the wines our family is so proud of.

We sincerely believe in our motto that “Great wines are born in the vineyard.” Our goal is to gently guide our grapes into wines that show off the balance and high quality we strive to achieve in our vineyards.
