Venue Information
The McHenry Museum is a City of Modesto owned facility supported by the City and McHenry Museum & Historical Society. The McHenry Museum is charged with preservative and exhibiting Modesto and Stanislaus County history. The building was constructed with funds bequeathed by Oramil McHenry in his will of 1906. Construction was complete by 1912 and the McHenry Library became a reality. In the mid 1971 the new county library was opened just north of the McHenry Library Location. The McHenry Library became the McHenry Museum with The Central California Art League occupied four rooms in the basement which were developed into galleries to display local artists work. The main floor was developed into the McHenry Museum. The museum continued in that configuration until 2003 when the Art League moved to new quarters and the museum was able to utilize the entirety of the building.
