Venue Information
The Annual Folkloric Festival in Miller Outdoor Theater in Hermann Park, in honor of Columbus Day, October 12th, is a four hour, professionally produced, theatrical presentation of the music and dance of the Hispanic world. This free Sunday night performance attracts an audience over 13,000 people. The City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department and the MTAB provide partial funding for this community cultural event. These funds are matched by generous grants from foundations, corporations business and individuals.
Education is a top priority for the Institute of Hispanic Culture. To date, the Scholarship Program has awarded over $1,500,000 in scholarships to high school and university students as well as high school Spanish teachers. The scholarships are for continued study of the Spanish or Portuguese language, literature, and culture, including music, art and dance.
