Cultural center in New York City, New York The Hellenic Cultural Center of New York, founded in 1985, aims to promote Hellenic (Greek) culture and civilization while supporting the arts of the local Astoria and New York City community. In our center we house the "Thespis Theatre", a 170 seat venue, with 2 professional dressing rooms for 7 artists each. We have reading and rehearsal rooms, and the FAMA BLACK BOX THEATER which can be used for music, plays and receptions. As of 2022 the Center has a new Artistic Director, Alex Ammohostianos, whose vision is to transform the center into a multi-role artistic and cultural center not only for New York Greeks, but an artistic and educational center for all New Yorkers
