This organ is an exceptional survivor from an extraordinary era of American organ building. Most other similar organs have either been destroyed or altered beyond recognition. Miraculously, and despite serious problems, the organ continues to delight listeners, despite pipes, couplers, accessories that are no longer functional, due to pollution, falling plaster, and other wear-and-tear. The organ deserves a careful, thoughtful restoration to bring it back so that it can continue its cultural role in the city for the next 150 years.
