Performing arts theater in Hampton, Virginia Since its opening in 2000,The American Theatre, has hosted more than 50 attractions a year -- including music, dance, theatre, magic, jazz, comedy and so much else. Legends such as Marcel Marceau, Bea Arthur, Jennifer Holiday, Manhattan Transfer, Ben Vereen, Robert Wagner and Jill St. John, Dame Claire Bloom, Branford Marsalis, David Sanbor, The Blind Boys of Alabama and legions of other greats. Our arts in education programs have flourished, featuring classes, summer musical theatre camps, Home School workshops, and camps for all ages. There is something for everyone at The American Theatre with artists from around the world and around the corner.
