Non-profit organization in New York City, New York
The Colonial Dames of America (CDA) is the oldest colonial lineage society for women in the United States. Founded in 1890, the Society was established to commemorate the history of the thirteen American colonies and the men and women who founded them. CDA's mission is to promote the historic preservation of sites and objects, award scholarships, educate the public about American history, inspire patriotism, and promote fellowship among our members. There are approximately forty chapters across the United States and in Europe. The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden in New York City is entirely owned and operated by the Society.
