Disgusting Food Museum

Sharing a meal is the best way to turn strangers into friends. Most of the museums seek to inspire visitors with a collection of beautiful and fascinating historical artworks. Rather, the Disgusting Food Museum has a different goal in inviting visitors to explore the world of food and challenge the notions of edible and not edible food.

The museum first opened in the coastal city of Malmo, featuring almost 80 dishes from all over the world known as the most “disgusting” ones in some way or another. A large hall turned into an emporium of unappetizing samples of some of the world’s most offensive food items. There are now locations in Nantes, France and Las Vegas, Nevada as well.

Curious foods from exotic cultures have always fascinated us and have always been much more than sustenance. “Disgust” is regarded as one of the six fundamental human emotions. Foods can be delicious to one and revolting to another.

The Museum invites adventurous visitors who would appreciate the opportunity to smell and taste some of the world’s stinkiest food items.
